HYDERABAD, Jan 12: The Islami Jamiat Tulba activists staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday to express solidarity with people of Iraq and condemn the FBI raids in the country.
They carried banners and placards, inscribed with slogans against the United States.
Talking to the protesters, the IJT leaders, Rahil Qureshi, Abdullah Siddiqui and others, criticized the Federal Bureau of Investigation for its raids in the country, saying the raids were a mockery of the country’s laws.
They said the Mujahideen, who were branded as terrorists by the US, deserved a tribute by Muslims.
They alleged the government had handed over the country to the FBI.
The speakers said despite playing the role of front-line state in the US war on terrorism, the country had not been provided with the aid and other economic benefits, it was promised.
Pakistan Democratic Party: The activists of the Pakistan Democratic Party also staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday to condemn the US policies towards Iraq.
They also observed a token hunger strike.
Speaking on the occasion, the party leaders said the US wanted to usurp oil resources of Muslim countries in the name of war on terrorism.
PMA: The Pakistan Medical Association, Sindh, has expressed concern over the raid on the residence of Dr Akmal Waheed, terming it immoral.
In a statement, issued here on Saturday, Sindh PMA president Dr Noor Mohammad Memon said incidents of trespass and violation of privacy had become common in the country.
He said the people should raise voice against the law enforcement agencies, involved in such incidents.
JAMAAT-I-ISLAMI: Hyderabad Jamaat-i-Islami chief Shaikh Shaukat Ali has also criticized the police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for raiding on the houses of Dr Waheed and Sabeeha Shahid, a women wing leader of the party.
In a statement, issued here on Saturday, the JI leader criticized the government for supporting the USA in its so-called war on terrorism.
He deplored the government had not even spared the house of a national hockey player, Shahid Ali Khan.
He urged the people to protest against the pro-US policies of the government.
The women wing leaders of Hyderabad Jamaat-i-Islami, Zainul Arab Nizamani, Saeeda Rizwan, Shamshad Akhtar, Shahnaz Baqai and Rukhsana Tanvir, also criticized the raid on the residence of Sabeeha.
