KARACHI: Court tells police not to harass citizen

KARACHI, Jan 9: A division bench of the High Court of Sindh disposed of on Thursday a petition against harassment filed by Ms Afzal Jehan.

The bench comprised Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Amir Hani Muslim.

The petitioner moved the court against alleged harassment by the area TPO and the SHO Jamshed Quarters police station.

When the matter came up, the bench inquired from the respondent police officials that whether any case or complaint was pending against the petitioner. On their denial, the bench disposed of the petition asking the police official not to harass the petitioner.

The same bench also issued notice to DSP Abdul Rasheed of North Nazimabad Town and the SHO Khwaja Ajmer Nagri for Jan 14 in a harassment petition filed by Ms Nida Jameel Siddiqui.

The petitioner moved the court against alleged harassment by the police officers. She maintained that she was employed as an assistant accountant in Zaheer Public School from where she resigned recently.

The petitioner maintained that after she left the service, Imran Izhar, proprietor of the school, had lodged a complaint against her alleging misappropriation of Rs200,000.—APP
