KARACHI: Better academic environment stressed

KARACHI, Jan 7: For restoring city’s image as the ‘city of lights’, it is essential that the environment of its educational institutions be improved.

This was said by the Naib Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the book week, organised by his party’s student wing at the S.M. Science College.

He appreciated the Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) for facilitating the needy students in acquiring knowledge.

The city Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, pointed out that the city had 538 katchi abadis. He said the city government was chalking out plans for providing jobs to the unemployed.

The city IJT Nazim Monim Zafar Khan said the organization had been arranging such activities for the students for the last 52 years. He claimed that a sum of more than Rs1.2 million was spent, last year, on students’ welfare activities.—APP
