Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, Jan 7: After a couple of lean days owing to slow arrivals of foreign flag ships, cargo handling activity at the Karachi port picked up on Tuesday where a total tonnage of 0.112m tons was handled.

Although bulk of it was contributed by the liquid tonnage, including 70,796 tons of oils, dry cargo also showed a modest increase. Export tonnage rose to 21,478 tons, which also included 1,067 tons of rice and 90,902 tons of import cargo.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active where six ships, LT Grand, Kota Wirawani, PONL Malandi, Ocean Starlight to unload and load containers, Sorenato and Al-Cyonida to unload crude oil were berthed after the departure of five.

The departing ships were led by Bunga Masempat, Kota Wirawani, Andhika Adhidaya, Fuji Hosih and Storm Lady, while Mar Challenger, Banglar Mamata, Ocean Starlight, Al-Cyonida, LT Grand, and Sorena are due to sail out on Wednesday.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Kota Teaju and Al-Mirqab, with containers.
