PESHAWAR, Jan 4: Corps Commander Gen Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai said on Saturday that the construction of Torawari, Sada, Dogar, Ghonzay and Mamozai roads would open new vistas of development in the tribal belt.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations handout, Gen Aurakzai, at the inauguration ceremony of the computer lab at the Al Madina Public School, he said work on schools, hospi-

tals and water supply schemes would be initiated to develop the area.

He said work on Torawari-Doaaba road and a basic health unit would be started in a few months.

#PPI adds:# The government has started development work in the far-flung areas of Mohmand Agency, like Khwazai and Baizai.

Political Agent Sahibzada Mohammad Anees, briefing newsmen regarding the development work in areas along the Afghan border, said health centres, schools, tube-wells, power supply and communication projects had been started in the area to end the deprivation of the tribesmen.

He said funds were being provided for the development from the Khushal Pakistan Programme’s special development package and the president’s package for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

He said the construction of the first dam in the area, the Pandiali dam, was in progress with an estimated cost of about Rs10.06 million.

He said that work in Khawazai area on 110 wells, 10 community schools, five health centres and three middle schools, and in Baizai area, 110 wells, 45 community schools, eight community health centres, 14 veterinary centres and roads has been started.
