AJK PM’s adviser resigns

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 1: AJK Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education Mohammad Yusuf Chaudhry on Wednesday tendered his resignation which was accepted, official sources confirmed.

Mr Yusuf, a former secretary education, was appointed adviser by Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan some 11 months ago. However, he came under fire by Muslim Conference President Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, at the party’s working committee meeting held in the middle of last month.

The MC chief had also demanded immediate removal of the adviser. Sardar Sikandar, however, defended the adviser at the meeting, telling the participants that he had not relieved the adviser, although the latter was himself willing to quit.

The prime minister later held a meeting with the adviser, whereat he took him into confidence on the situation in the wake of growing pressure by the MC legislators.

The prime minister also appreciated the services rendered by the adviser.

After the meeting, it was widely believed that the adviser would quit by December 31.
