KARACHI, Jan 1: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind has directed the Local Government Department to take action as warranted under the rules on an application of the Pakistan Association of the Blind, which sought a review of cancelled plots of blind persons.
They had appealed to the chief secretary that blind persons be given special discount on government plots.
Meanwhile, the chief secretary, with reference to his talks with the PAB office-bearers, directed the law secretary to publish a booklet regarding the identity of blind people, the assistance provided to them as per law and other related rules and regulations.
He also asked the director for curriculum, Sindh Textbook Board, for a visit of the PAB’s training centre and have an exchange of views with its office-bearers for the compilation and publication of textbooks for the blind.
He also directed the secretary for local government to assist in the establishment of training and education centres for the blind in every district in cooperation with the respective DCOs.
The chief secretary called upon the philanthropists and philanthropic organizations to chalk out schemes to be financed by them in aid of the blind.—APP
