Constable killed in encounter

VEHARI, Dec 31: One constable was killed while another was injured in an encounter with dacoits in Jehania here on Monday night.

After receiving information that the four armed men, who had committed dacoities in Sulmani Bazaar on Monday night, were present in the Jangal Mariala Road area, a police party reached there. On seeing the police, the bandits opened fire as a result of which constable Maqsood died instantly, while another policeman sustained injuries. The injured was admitted to hospital.

However, the outlaws managed to escape.

DACOITY: A dispenser was deprived of Rs270,000 in cash by three armed men in Chak 33-WB here on Tuesday.

Mohammad Anees of Chichawatni wanted to set up a clinic in Chak 33-WB. In this regard, he visited the house of his friend, Ajmal, where three people identified as Nazakat Ali, Pervaiz Masih and Ghulam Mohammad beat him up and fled after snatching cash from him.

Anees was admitted to hospital.
