KARACHI, Dec 31: The University of Karachi is considering to accommodate the cases of such candidates who were affected due to rain on December 30, while attempting their papers.

The controller of examination of the university claimed that on Tuesday, only 200 students, which made less than one per cent of the total 22,000, taking examinations in various departments, tents and the gymnasium of the university, made a demand for the cancellation of the examination, which could not be acceded to.

On December 30, a number of students were forced to leave their seats during the course of examinations at the Shaikh Zayed Islamic Research Centre of the university, in the wake of a brief rain. The students had claimed that some of the invigilators asked them to drop the answer sheets as the paper had been cancelled, while the examination staff was of the view that the rumour regarding the cancellation was spread by some miscreants or by some of the candidates who wanted to disrupt the examinations, and ultimately the students left their seats at the two tents housing some 2,000 candidates.

The controller claimed that a majority of the students attempted their papers calmly and had no complaints at all.

Despite all this, the university was considering to accommodate the cases of the affected students as it had always been sympathetic towards its students, he added, and hoped that the students would be helpful in maintaining the discipline.

TRANSPORT: In the meantime, the university’s transport wing has announced the schedule for the bus service to pick the students, which would be effective from January 1st.

The buses would ply on the routes originating from or touching Nazimabad, Sakhi Hassan, Nagin Chowrangi, Sohrab goth, Karimabad, Shipowners College, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Gulberg Chowrangi, Water Pump, Fazal Mill, Saddar, Guru Mandar, New Town, Hassan Square, Malir city, Sharea-i-Faisal, Dawood Chowrangi, Golimar Chowrangi, Tower, Frere Road, Natha Khan, Banaras Chowk, Khilafat Chowk, Orangi Town, Qalandaria Chowk, Abdullah College, Ajmer Nagri and Kala School.
