By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 24: Seven ships carrying general cargo, containers and crude oil are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to delay in arrivals of some foreign flag vessels. As a result, four ships, Trade Eternity, Kota Wangi and MOL Sincerity to unload and load containers and Nanking to load rice were berthed after the departure of two.

The ships, which departed include Bunga Massatu and Fu Yu Shan, while Iron-D, Grand Ocean-1, Meros Mandy, Banglar Mamata and Trade Eternity are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy at the dry wharves rose to 65 per cent but it was nil at the oil piers as no tanker arrived on Tuesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was, therefore, modest where a total tonnage of 51,700 tons comprising 23,021 tons of export cargo including 2,347 tons of rice and 28,739 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: L.M.Z. Christina, Good Hope, with crude oil, Kota Intan, Mar Challenger, Dubai and Sima Bahar, with containers, Handy Logger, with general cargo.

A cargo volume of 48,116 tons comprising 38,678 tons of import cargo and 9,438 tons of export cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 803 containers was handled.
