KARACHI, Dec 19: The Collectorate of Customs (Exports), Karachi, has reorganized the composition of the duty drawback groups to ensure quick payments of claims and reduce pendency of cases.
The reorganized groups of duty drawback will start functioning according to their new arrangement from January 1, 2003.
This has been done to facilitate exporters for the expeditious disposal of duty drawback claims during the second half of the current fiscal.
According to reorganized composition, the principles embodied in the Harmonized System have been incorporated and the duty drawback groups have been organized by moving from simpler items like yarn etc., to complex items i.e. garments etc. The simpler items have been placed in Group-I and the complex items in Group-IV.
Secondly, sub-categories of various rebateable items, which were previously spread in various groups, have been integrated into major categories and assigned to a specific group. For example yarn all sorts, have been placed in Group-I and fabrics all sorts, have been placed in Group-II.
Whereas miscellaneous items notified under standard rebate notifications have been clubbed together and placed in a single group, whereas miscellaneous items notified under specific SROs have been assigned to a different group.
