Aptma rejoinder to PCGA

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 19: The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has refuted the PCGA’s allegation that it had not paid its share of annual contribution towards data compilation cost.

While criticizing the PCGA for refusing to supply data on phutti arrival and sale of cotton the Aptma has pointed out that it had paid Rs175,000 to ginners’ body for the current financial year.

Inspite of the fact that collection and making available of figures of phutti and cotton is the responsibility of the PCGA which should be done out of their own resources but Aptma had been supporting and financing these functions without a fail.

The Aptma alleged that PCGA is promoting vested interest of cotton ginners and growers as it had been frequently distorting and misrepresenting the cotton data to serve their interest.

In order to ensure correct and timely availability of cotton data to all stakeholders, Aptma had been regularly requesting PCGA for providing data in a meaningful form and frequency but the ginners’ body has always refused to oblige.

The chief executive of Aptma Dr Khalid Amin further said that correct and timely information on cotton arrivals and stocks is critical for planning by the textile industry, government, cotton growers, ginners and exporters without which proper planning and decision making was not possible.
