ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has agreed to allot some 300 plots to villagers of Siri Saral in sectors D-12 and E-11.

This decision was taken during a meeting between a delegation, led by a local MNA Mian Mohammad Aslam, and senior CDA officials on Wednesday.

The delegation gave several suggestions to the CDA to find out a best possible way to resolve the grievances of the villagers and restart development of D-12 sector.

The CDA officials were told that although the award of land in Siri Saral was announced in 1985, the situation had completely changed after 17 years.

The CDA should adopt a flexible attitude to resolve the issue, the delegation said.

Talking to Dawn, MNA Mian Mohammad Aslam said the plan presented by the delegation had been accepted by both the sides (villagers and the CDA).

He said during the meeting representatives of the villagers were of the view that the CDA had to pay an amount to the villagers against 1,872 kanals. They also demanded of the authority to provide them alternative plots in the same sector rather than in sectors that would be developed after several years.

The delegation suggested that some 300 plots should be given to the villagers in compensation for their 1,872 kanals acquired by the CDA for the development of the sector.

The authority’s officials were of the view that there was no spare plot available in the sector, therefore the demand could not be met, the public representative said.

However, the delegation informed the CDA chairman that there was a site, measuring 500 kanals, in the sector which could be used for allotting plots to the villagers.

The delegation also pointed out some unutilized land in sector E-11 and urged that it should be given to the villagers in compensation.

Meanwhile, the local MNA was hopeful that development of sector D-12 would be resumed very soon as both the sides had agreed on the proposals given by the delegation.

Mr Aslam said the development of the sector would boost economic activities in the city and provide job opportunities to labourers and skilled workers.

He said development and construction activities in the sector would approximately circulate Rs20 billion.
