Three killed; one commits suicide

RAWALPINDI, Dec 18: Three persons were killed in separate road accidents while a youth committed suicide.

According to police, Ijaz Hussain was run over by a speeding car in sector G-8/2 on Tuesday night.

Mohammad Fiaz, the brother of the deceased, told Margalla police that his brother was crossing the road when a speeding car hit him as a result of which he died on the spot. The driver managed to escape from the scene, the police said.

In another incident, a 50-year-old woman was killed and her daughter injured after being hit by a wagon on Islamabad highway on Wednesday night.

The police said Sakina Bibi and her 11-year-old daughter, Shazia, were crossing the road when a wagon (LOK-7156) hit them. Sakina was killed on the spot while Shazia suffered injuries.

The wagon driver, identified by the police as Mukarab Hussain, had been arrested and his vehicle impounded.

Similarly, a six-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a vehicle in the Aabpara police area on Wednesday, the police said.

Faisal was crossing the road when a speeding yellow cab knocked him down. The driver escaped from the scene. The body of the boy was shifted to the hospital.

SUICIDE: An 18-year-old youth committed suicide by shooting himself in his house in Sadiqabad on Wednesday.

Police said Murtaza had been mentally ill since long. He took a pistol and shot himself to death, they added.

ROBBERIES: Two robbers snatched a yellow cab from its driver near Police College Sihala on Wednesday and escaped.

Ikhlaq Shah, the cab driver, told the police that two persons booked his vehicle (RIR-8314) for Sihala. When the vehicle reached near the police college they snatched it from him and escaped.

APP ADDS: Three men were injured when their rivals opened fire on them near Changar in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the police, Mohammad Abbasi was travelling in his car along with Zulfiqar and Gul Zaman when Jalil and Nasir and four unidentified accomplices forced them to stop the vehicle.

The accused then dragged them out of their car, stabbed them and then opened fire on Mohammad Abbasi. The other two managed to hide in the near-by fields, the police said.
