KARACHI: Reckless driving claims two lives

KARACHI, Dec 16: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city on Monday.

A motorcyclist was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on Native’s Jetty bridge.

Police said that Ghulam Akbar, aged 50, was travelling on his motorcycle (KCJ-4263) when an unidentified speeding vehicle knocked him down and escaped. He suffered head injury. He was rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The dead man was resident of Gizri.

A pedestrian was run over by a truck in Shershah.

Police said that Sarwar, aged 55, was run over by a truck (JT-8902) while walking across Mauripur Road near Gul Bai Chowk.

He died on the spot. The body was sent Civil Hospital for post-mortem. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Police claimed to have impounded the vehicle.

After the accident, a large number of people gathered at the spot, but police quickly controlled the situation.

KILLED: Bullet-riddled body of a man was found in Korangi on Monday.

Police said that the body was one-day old. The dead man was identified as Hakim Khan, aged 50. The body was recovered from a deserted place in Korangi No 1 1/2.

Police said that there were multiple bullet injuries on the body of the dead man. He was kidnapped and later killed. The killers dumped his body in Korangi.

Police said that the dead man was a trader and used to lease out goods.
