FAISALABAD, Dec 15: PML-N Chief Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that a combined opposition in the National Assembly will launch campaign for the restoration of true democracy, revival of 1973 Constitution and against President Pervez Musharraf.
He was talking to newsmen at the walima reception of the brother of PML-N’s Japan president here on Saturday night.
Javed Hashmi said that the elements, who had been making hue and cry for democracy in the parties for the last three years, were now playing the role of silent spectator over the issue of democracy in the country.
He claimed that there had been no change in the vote bank of the PML-N. He alleged that the establishment and the military bureaucracy changed the results of over 150 constituency.
He said the steps being taken by the present government for getting the top slots of Sindh Assembly were highly objectionable. The extension in time for filing the nomination papers for deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly was a proof that the military regime and its associates were taking all steps to destroy the democratic and constitutional norms of the country.
He claimed that present government would have to bring back Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto to peacefully run the affairs of the country.
He alleged that the government struck a deal with MQM chief Altaf Husain, despite the fact that he issued a number of statements against the federation.
To a question, Mr Hashmi said that his party would accept Mian Azhar if he publically condemned the takeover of Pervez Musharraf.
“Mian Azhar committed many offences during last four years but the PML-N leadership would pardon him if he confessed his crime publically,” he said.
PML-N’s Punjab president Zulfiqar Khosa, parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Rana Sanaullah Khan, local MNAs and MPAs of the party were also present on the occasion.
