KARACHI: Haqiqi man shot dead

KARACHI, Dec 15: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was shot dead in Liaquatabad on Sunday night.

Police said Khushdil Qamar, an active worker of the MQM-H, stopped at a Haleem shop in Liaquatabad No 9 while returning home after Isha prayers. When he stopped at the shop two unidentified men, riding on a motorcycle, appeared there and pumped six bullets into his body. He died on the spot.

The assailants sped off.

The body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem.

Shopkeepers pulled down their shutters and tension gripped the locality.

Police arrived on the scene and cordoned off the area. Police also began patrolling roads and streets to maintain order.

‘ENCOUNTER’: An alleged bandit was shot dead off Sharea Faisal in Tipu Sultan police limits, in what police claimed an encounter.

Police said two motorcyclists stopped two vehicles off Sharea Faisal on a deserted street near Askari Leasing Company. Two policemen, riding on a motorcycle, noticed this and asked the bandits to surrender. Instead the bandits opened fired at the policemen, who returned the fire killing one of the bandits. The other bandit sped off on the motorcycle.

The body of the suspect was sent to a hospital for autopsy where his identity could not be established immediately.
