Alam brothers strike form

LAHORE, Dec 12: Brothers Shah Qublai Alam  and Shamyl Alam, slammed three goals each to help Lahori Knight  to move into the final of the December Polo Cup defeating Thuraya 8-5 1/2 goals on Thursday.

  Shamyl struck his  first goal in  the first  chukker while Syed Hassan Raza Gillani,  who  contributed two goals, scored his first, in the second chukker.

Thuraya kept their lead 5 1/2-4 when the third chukker ended as both sides scored two goals each. Shamyl  banged  home his  second goal while Qublai added his  first. For Thuraya Amir and Ashfaq added a goal.

Lahori Knight scoring four  goals. Qublai scored two  more  while Shamyl and Hassan added a goal each in the final chukker.

Shahzad Aziz scored in the fourth chukker and two goals on handicap enabled Millennium Bug to beat Dew Drops 6- 5  in the subsidiary semifinal. Yaqoob scored the  remaining  two goals for the winning side.

Dew  Drops started the match on a fast tempo  scoring  three goals one each from Raja Sattar, Irfan Ali Hyder and Nasir  Ahmad Khan. That put Dew Drops ahead 3-2 after finishing Millennium Bug’s tow goal handicap. Yaqoob restored the parity (3-3) by scoring  a goal in the third chukker. But Abid Nawaz scored a goal to  again put Dew Drops in front 4-3 before the chukker ended.

Sattar  further  extended the lead to 5-3  converting  a  40 yards penalty hit in the start of the fourth chukker. But it  was the last laugh for Dew Drops. From here on Millennium Bug  scored three goals, two from Shehzad and one from Yaqoob  to win the match.
