ITF gets PTF’s protest letter

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Dec 12: The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has forwarded Pakistan’s letter of protest over venue switch of their tie against New Zealand to the Executive Director of the Davis Cup committee.

Syed Dilawar Abbas, president of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) told Dawn Thursday that the ITF chief had intimated him about the move.

“It is now up to the Davis Cup committee to reconsider its decision and they’ll inform us in due course,” Dilawar said.

The ITF’s Cup committee Wednesday decided to change the venue of the Feb 7 to 9 tie from Lahore to New Zealand because of security concerns.

The decision upset the Pakistan tennis managers who felt they had been deprived of a pretty good chance of beating New Zealand on grass at home.
