KARACHI, Dec 12: Praising former speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah’s ruling that the MPAs-elect were sworn in under the 1973 constitution, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal said on Thursday it proved that all the provincial assembly members rejected the Legal Framework Order.
A spokesman for the MMA, in a statement, termed it a victory for all the democratic forces in the country, and paid tribute to Jalal Mahmood Shah for his statement.
He urged parliamentary groups to show unity and reject “autocratic decisions taken by a single person,” saying if the Sindh MPAs followed the examples of the National and Punjab assemblies’ members, it would be “disrespect to the people’s mandate.”
He said the MMA would not compromise principles, and added that the MMA would lend its support to the group that would guarantee the acceptance of its 27 points.
He described the People’s Party Parliamentarians as a “non-serious party,” saying three of its MPAs were candidates for the post of Sindh chief minister. — PPI
