SHC judge reprimands police

KARACHI, Dec 2: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of the Sindh High Court, who is also the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts for Karachi division, reprimanded on Monday officials of New Karachi police station for implicating citizens in false cases.

The police officials were reprimanded when the New Karachi police produced two accused, Faisal alias Faizi and Saleemuddin Qureshi, alleged to be activists of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H). They were charged with the killing of an 11-year-old boy, Naeem, and attacking a police party which went to arrest MQM-H activists in sector 5-J of New Karachi.

The AJ referred to a news appearing in an English daily and said, according to the news report, the boy was killed in police firing. He expressed serious concern for implicating innocent citizens in false cases. He asked senior police officers to take necessary disciplinary action against the police officials who are implicating citizens in false cases.—APP
