KARACHI, Dec 2: District officer of the city government’s veterinary services department has asked all cattle-pen owners to ensure timely payment of dues and taxes for the year 2002- 2003.

In a statement on Monday, the DO, Dr Zafar Zadi, said that tax collection responsibility had been assigned to the H. Moinuddin Company and all cattle-pen owners should make payments through it.

As per directives of the City Nazim, he added, the veterinary services department conducted a raid against illegal abattoirs in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Orangi and Liaquatabad Towns.

About 962kg meat was confiscated from the slaughterhouses and delivered to a welfare trust and the Karachi zoo.

He warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in the illegal business.—APP
