DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 1: The members of the district council have demanded of the government that the development funds should be uniformly distributed among all the district and union councils.

The 14th session of the district council was held on Saturday to discuss the ongoing rift between the district Nazim and union Nazimeen. It was presided over by Naib Nazim Inayatullah Khan Miankhel.

Some of the members alleged that the development funds were distributed only among the blue-eyed Nazimeen of the union councils whereas the other members were deprived of their due right for belonging to the opposition groups.

Chowdhwan union council Nazim Abdus Sattar Khan Babar said that despite repeated requests and complaints to the Local Government, NWFP, secretary the development funds were given to the blue-eyed Nazimeen and not a single development scheme was awarded to his union council. The same was the case with other Nazimeen sitting in the opposition, he added.

Fazal Ahmad Khan Saddozai, Nazim UC-3, lamented that even the secretary of the local government gave no weight to their complaints.

He invited the attention of MMA general secretary Maulana Fazal Rehman to take notice of the corruption and lavish spending of development funds by district Nazim.

He also criticized the role of agencies who were allegedly keeping mum on all the misdeeds and deceptions committed by district government.

Woman councillor Irshad Begum lamented that the womenfolk was totally ignored in all the affairs of the local government and it seemed that there was no room for the women councillors to keep themselves involved in district affairs.

UC Paroa Nazim Sardar Imtiaz Khan Baloch said that the traffic police was minting money from the people and the tractor trolleys on one pretext or the other.

UC-2 Nazim Malik Mushtaq Dar, through a resolution, asked the district government to advise the Tehsil administration not to put on auction the proposed shopping plaza on West circular road.

He insisted that the proposed shops should be allotted to the people holding the domicile of Dera Ismail Khan on a fix premium to encourage the local traders.
