ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has decided to reduce the type approval fee on telecom equipment, both locally manufactured and imported, and simplified the procedures pertaining to type approval from December 1.
The decision to this effect was made by the PTA chairman, Maj-Gen Shahzada Alam Malik (retired), while presiding over a meeting on Friday.
According to the decision, 50 and 33 per cent reduction has been made in type approval fee on locally manufactured and imported equipment, respectively.
Besides, substantial decrease in fee, application form for type approval has been simplified for the convenience of telecom operators, marketers and importers. The form has now been reduced from four pages to one-and-a-half page. Similarly, the list of telecom terminal equipment required for approval has been curtailed and now only essential items are included.
