Challan in D-12 case submitted to court

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Nov 28: The police investigation cell, Islamabad, on Thursday presented challan in D-12 development case in the Anti-Terrorist Court no 2, comprising Judge Safdar Hussain Malik.

The investigation officer, sub-inspector Bashir Ahmad Noon, presented the challan. The same court also adjourned the hearing of the bail application of six Sari Saral villagers to December 3, as one of the accused was not present in the court.

The accused — Miskeen, Tariq Mehmood, Elahi Dad, Mehfooz Begum, Mohammad Akram and Mohammad Hanif — who had been granted interim bail by the same court, had submitted application for full bail.

IMPRISONMENT: The civil judge, Hasnain Azhar Shah, has awarded five-month rigorous imprisonment to a drug-peddler.

The convict, Mohammad Rafique, alias Kala, was also fined Rs2,000, and would have to undergo another 15 days of jail term in case of non-payment.

The convict had been arrested by the police for possessing 115 grams heroin.

BAIL REJECTED: The additional district and sessions judge, Mohammad Azam Mian, has rejected the bail application of an alleged drug-peddler.

The accused, Abdur Rehman, had been booked by Cantt police for allegedly smuggling one-and-a-half-kilograms of charas.

PETITION FILED: A resident of Jehlum has accused the collector (recovery) of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Bank, Jehlum city, of contempt of court and misuse of power in a writ petition filed with the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench.

The complainant, Syed Akhtar, stated that he had taken a debt of Rs180,000 from the SME bank. Later, he paid back the amount, but, even then, the collector concerned issued arrest warrant against him and allegedly tried to harass him, on which he moved a session court, Islamabad, which granted him stay.

According to the petition, the collector was also not entitled to collect the arrears of land revenue anymore as the SBFC Act 22 had been repealed.
