KARACHI, Nov 21: A jobless young man committed suicide in his house in Keamari on Thursday morning.
Police said that Yasir Rafiq, aged 31, shot himself in the head in his house in Sikandarabad, Keamari, in the police limits of Jackson.
Quoting family sources, police said that Yasir had been jobless for the past many months. He was suffering from depression because of economic problems.
He was married and had a daughter.
The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Sources at the hospital said that the bullet had pierced through the head, causing death instantaneously.
CARJACKING: Thirty-two vehicles — nine cars and 23 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Thursday, police said.
Four cars were hijacked. Five others were stolen.
Nine motorcycles were hijacked. Fourteen others were stolen.
Police also claimed on Thursday to have recovered three cars and four motorcycles in the city.
ROBBERY: One robbery was committed in the city on Thursday, police said.
Two bandits intercepted a businessman, Imran Mehmood, on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road and robbed him of Rs300,000, in the morning.
ROAD ACCIDENTS: Reckless driving claimed three lives in the city on Thursday.
A woman, Zubaida, aged 45, died and Kulsoom, aged 40, and Fareeda, aged 40, were injured when they were knocked down by a speeding car (LOY-9306) in the police limits of Tipu Sultan.
Police said that the three women were hit by the car while walking across a road. They were rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced Zubaida dead on arrival. The other two women were admitted to the hospital.
Police claimed to have arrested the car driver, identified as Mohammed Mansha, and impounded the vehicle.
A woman was knocked down by a speeding bus in New Karachi.
Police said that Waseela, aged 37, was run over by a speeding bus of route 4-K while walking across the main road. She was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The bus driver escaped after the accident.
An unidentified man was run over by an unknown vehicle on M. A. Jinnah Road on Thursday night.
Police said that the man was crossing the road when a speeding vehicle knocked him down. Passersby informed police of the accident. The Nabi Bux police took the man to Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
BODY FOUND: Decomposed body of a young man was found in the police limits of Sachal on Thursday.
Police said that the decomposed body was found at a desolated place behind Chapal Garden Apartments near Madina Colony Road.
It was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem. Later, the body was handed over to the Edhi Foundation for burial as it could not be kept for identification due to its decomposing state.
