Three-goal burst by Izhar

KARACHI, Nov 20: Zubair XI clobbered Saghir XI 9-1 in the Ramazan Champions Trophy hockey tournament at UBL Sports Complex Wednesday.

The winners started the goal-spree taking a four-goal lead before breather, opening the account with a 10th-minute penalty corner conversion by Shah Zaman. Faisal Raza doubled the lead two minutes later.

Saeedullah was on target in the 25th minute and Izhar Ahmad made it 4-0 in the dying moments of the first half.

Zubair XI continued tearing Saghir XI apart when they added two quickfire goals one minute into the second session when Zia-ul-Islam found the cage while Faisal slammed home the next minute.

Saghir XI got the consolation with Saleem scoring the 38th minute.

Another penalty corner converted in the 40th minute by Shah provided his side an unassailable 7-1 lead. Zubair XI’s punishment was completed with two goals in the 42nd and 48th minute from Izhar.
