PESHAWAR, Nov 17: Repair of the road from Malakand to Landhaki has already been completed while a comprehensive plan has been envisaged to upgrade the Chakdara-Timergarha road in the immediate future.
According to a statement clarifying a news item that appeared in Dawn on Nov 14, the repair work on the Nowshera-Chakdarra-Chitral road from Nowshera to Mardan is in progress, and it would hopefully be completed soon.
Dualization of the Mardan-Takhtbai road, a sick project inherited from the previous government, is also underway and the contractor has been directed to accelerate the pace of work.
The dualization of the Takhtbhai-Shergarh road has been started on the directive of the North West Frontier Province governor, says a spokesman for the Frontier Highways Authority on Saturday.
The portion of the road from Dargai to Khwazakhela, Khwazakhela to Ghudgai, Khwazakhela to Apluri and onward to Besham were included in the provincial highways programme funded by the Asian Development Bank under the Malakand Rural Development Programme while another 100kms of rural roads in the four districts of Malakand, Swat, Buner and Shangla were included in the same project.
