KARACHI, Nov 16: A 10-member delegation of exporters of garments, household textiles and surgical instruments from Pakistan recently visited Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
The main activity of the delegation was a mini-exhibition and meeting with Oslo Chamber of Commerce.
In Copenhagen it met with DIPO — a part of Danish Chamber of Commerce and Danish Trade Council. There was also an interface with Netto — a store that simultaneously sells grocery, clothing and home textile.
According to a statement, in Stockholm, the market strategy was focused towards individual meetings of exporters with importers. Individual meetings of the home textile and towel exporters were also arranged in Stockholm.
A meeting was also arranged to provide opportunity for useful interaction of exporters with the stakeholders in Swedish trade.
The statement said the event helped in building the correct image of Pakistan’s trade sector as well as created the desired impact on Swedish trade bodies and would facilitate the future export promotion efforts.
It was stated that Sweden has been relatively untapped market in Europe due to smaller size, peculiar market structure and location. It however, offers good opportunities being one of the markets with the highest purchasing power of consumer.
After exemption in duties of exports from Pakistan, Sweden has become more receptive to the business offers from Pakistan, especially in the textiles, the statement added.—APP
