KARACHI, Nov 15: Renowned nuclear scientist, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, has offered his services to contribute for the promotion of education in Sindh.
In a meeting with Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind on Thursday, Dr Qadeer discussed the development programmes in the fields of education, health and social welfare.
He expressed the desire to contribute in these fields, especially in education, in Karachi and interiors of Sindh.
Mr Rind welcomed the offer and asked the Secretary of Education, Nazar Hussain Maher, to work out a plan for utilising the services of the great scientist.
The education secretary said that 8 to 10 acres of land may be provided in Nawabshah to run an educational institute.
Dr Qadeer offered to establish a postgraduate institute of information technology in Nawabshah with the provision of financial and logistic support.
The chief secretary appreciated the offer with specific reference to his assistance for renovation work of D.J. Govt College and establishment of two educational projects at the University of Karachi - the ITS unit and Biotechnical Institute.—APP
