ISLAMABAD, Nov 13: A tender of Rs830 million for the District Courts Complex Project will be called next week. The project will be completed in three years.

The government has acquired 10 acres of land in Sector G-10 for the construction of the complex. Out of the total cost, Rs600 million have already been paid to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) by the federal government.

The courts complex will have district courts, offices of district administration, lawyers chambers, bar room, library, auditorium, canteen and all other necessary facilities. Sources told Dawn that a committee has been constituted to look after the project.

District and Sessions Judge Islamabad Asad Raza will head the committee, while Civil Judge Ch Mumtaz Hussain, President Bar Association Ishtiaq Ahmed Raja and Secretary Tariq Mehmood Jehangiri will be the members, they said.

INQUIRY ORDERED: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam has marked application against the Ahlmud (clerk) of district and sessions judge Islamabad to DSP and directed him to hold immediate inquiry and report.

In his application to the SSP, Mohammad Azeem pleaded that his nephew Shahzad Ijaz was murdered by Mehboob Khan on 21-05- 1999, but the police failed to arrest the accused. He said Ahlmud Habib Ahmed was real brother of the accused and was creating hurdles in the case.

IMPRISONMENT: Senior Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate Arshad Ali has awarded four-month rigorous imprisonment each to two accused in a theft case.

Accused Zubair and Qamar Zaman were charged with stealing electric meters. Both the accused pleaded guilty before the court.

COUPLE ACQUITTED: District and Sessions Judge Chaudhary Asad Raza has acquitted a couple in a Hudood case for want of evidences. The couple Ghulam Sadiq and Rukhsana, was arrested under 10/16 Hudood Ord by Aabpara police for having double Nikah.

SUIT FILED: A compensation suit was filed with the court of Civil Judge Abdul Qayyum Khan against Chakwal Feeds Limited for supply of poisonous feed.

The owner of Zahid Poultry Farm, Zahid Mehmood, in his application pleaded that he purchased 500 bags of chicken feed of Chakwal Feeds Limited through a dealer Malik Khalid Saleem. He said use of feed killed his 900 chickens thus dealing him a loss of thousands of rupees.

He appealed to the court to get him compensated by Chakwal Feeds by paying him Rs 410,000. The court issued summons to the Chakwal Feeds Limited.
