Professors oppose BoG plan

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 12: Punjab Science Professors Association has asked the provincial government to immediately withdraw the decision of establishing boards of governors (BoG) in the colleges.

In a joint statement, the president of the association, Akbar Ali Meo and other office-bearers of the association criticised the decision of setting up boards of governors in the colleges.

The resolution adopted by the association said boards of governors would held the educational system hostage to the capitalists. The resolution said decision to hand educational institutions over to the private sector had created fears among educationists and students.

The Association said teachers who were working for the welfare of the country and the people were being victimised.

The association said it was obligation of the government to pay unreserved attention to promotion of education and give teachers their deserved status in the country.
