KARACHI, Nov 12: Six ships carrying coal, steel coils and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Kota Wajar, to unload and load containers, Edin, to offload vehicles, Leonnid Utesov to load naphtha and NCC Hijaz to offload chemicals were berthed after the sailing of as many.

The departing ships were led by Kota Wajar, Edin, Lombardia and Pearlmar, while Fighter, Tiger, Leonnid Utesov, Iron-D, NCC Hijaz and Emirate Star-11 are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy was maintained on the higher side, 65 and 67 per cent both at the dry wharves and the oil piers respectively.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 75,194 tons comprising 43,952 tons of export cargo including 2,409 tons of rice and 2,420 tons of wheat and 31,242 tons of import cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Tzini, with 37,000 tons of coal, Camore Pride, with crude oil, Sima Bahar, Beauty River and Ocean Nius, with containers, and Windsor Castle, with steel coils.

Port Qasim


KARACHI, Nov 12: Three ships carrying edible oil, diesel oil and containers were allotted berths at Multipurpose Terminal, Fotco Oil Terminal and Qasim International Container Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Monday.

Meanwhile, another ship carrying edible oil also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy also remained on higher side at the port. Seven ships, Maria, Ince Trans, Adrekni, Contship Innovator, Karimun, Keepan and Yong Tai were busy in loading/ discharging wheat, containers, edible oil, diesel oil and coal respectively.

A cargo volume of 55,047 tons comprising 31,387 tons of import tonnage and 23,660 tons of export cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 1,259 containers (Teus), was handled.

Two ships, Fuji Hoshi and Yong Tai sailed out. Iran Jamal was expected to take berth at Steel Jetty on Tuesday.
