Teachers boycott classes

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Nov 8: The teachers of several colleges on Friday boycotted classes against the proposal for establishment of board of governors (BOGs) at health and educational institutes.

The boycott was carried out on the call of the Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) and Colleges-School Teachers Alliance.

The boycott was observed at Government College Asghar Mall, Gordon College, Hashmat Ali Islamia College and Government College Satellite Town.

According to a new programme, the teachers have decided to boycott one class daily in all the colleges, PPLA president Mohammad Ilyas Qureshi told this reporter.

He said in honour of the holy month of Ramazan, and keeping in view the educational careers of the students, they had decided to relax their movement a bit.

He condemned the issuance of transfer order of Holy Family Hospital medical superintendent Dr Nisar Cheema by the board of governors, terming the decision one-sided. He said Mr Cheema was an honest administrator.
