KARACHI, Nov 5: A three-day joint seminar of Pakistani and Turkish navies was inaugurated at the Bahria Auditorium on Tuesday.
Rear Admiral Murat Bilgel, with a six Naval officers’ panel, represented the Turkish Navy, whereas Pakistan Navy was represented by Captain S. Khawar Ali along with two PN officers.
Papers on different latest naval warfare, trend, techniques and their concepts were presented and discussed at length.
Commander Pakistan Fleet Real Admiral M.A. Tahir, who was the chief guest, termed the seminar a viable platform not only to discuss modern naval warfare techniques, but also to provide an opportunity to the naval officers to improve upon their procedures and concepts in order to keep pace with the ongoing changes in the naval tactics and doctrines.
He stressed upon the PN officers to critically analyze the ideas floated in the seminar which would definitely pave the way for better conduct of naval operations in periods of peace and tension.
Rear Admiral Murat Bilgel, Commander Fast Patrol Craft of the Turkish Navy, said that such seminars played a vital role to develop cohesion and professional coordination between the two navies. He hoped that the seminar would bring out some thought- providing concepts and ideas. He thanked the Pakistan Navy for conducting the seminar in an amiable manner and hoped that such academic exercises would continue to take place in the future.
PASSING-OUT PARADE: The Chairman, Port Qasim Authority, Rear Admiral Sikendar Waqar Naqvi, has said that the basic aim of Pakistan Navy is to defend the territorial waters of the country, for which all sectors of the service were playing the role in a befitting and professional manner.
He was speaking at the passing-out parade of the 20th batch of Pak Marines at the Marines Training Centre, PNS Qasim, on Tuesday.
He said PNS Qasim played a vital role in training the Navy personnel to the optimum level of professionalism. “These well- groomed and proficient mariners not only can defend the coastal areas, but will also play an important role in the inland protection.” He stressed upon the passed-out sailors to keep their attention focused on improving their professional skills and concepts.
Admiral Naqvi pointed out to the passing-out batch that in the present scenario of modern warfare tactics, any laxity and negligence would not be spared by the enemy. Complete self-confidence, highest degree of professionalism and total commitment to the task are the only tools to have an edge over the enemy.
Earlier, Commandant Pakistan Marines apprised the chief guest of the various stages of training imparted to the trainees. He congratulated the instructors and trainers for providing dedicated training to the mariners.
The Comkar gold medal was awarded to Salahuddin Marine UT, while Mohammad Salim Akhtar PNP UT received the gold medal for the best all-round PNP constable.
The parade was attended by a large number of naval officers, sailors and their relatives.
