Bardot comes down heavily on furriers

By Our Correspondent

PARIS, Nov 5: French Actress Brigitte Bardot has said that 30 years after having started her battle against the widescale slaughter of animals, and notably baby seals, she’s now back to square one.

“I’m amazed today,” she notes, “that what I thought was a victory — against furriers — was only a respite.”

She points to the return into fashion of fur coats, and this after she took her campaign around the world, even to the Arctic reaches of northern Canada, to persuade furriers, and their clients, to stop making use of the skins of animals and instead seek their replacement with artificial fabrics.
