KARACHI, Nov 5: Three ships including a car carrier with 116 units are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves remained modest for the second day in a row where four ships were berthed: They are: Trade Eternity, Kota Wangi, to unload and load containers, M.M. Mersey, to unload vehicles and Johar to offload crude oil.

Only one ship, M.M. Mersey departed, while Mar Challenger, Kota Wangi, Emirate Star, Global Progress, Trade Eternity, Johar and APL Costa Rica are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy at the dry wharves was on the higher side at 84 per cent, while it fell to 33 per cent at oil piers owing to lesser calling made by the oil tankers.

A total tonnage of 0.107m tons comprising 26,447 tons of export tonnage including 2,975 tons of wheat and 80,919 tons of import cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Oriental Bright and Dubai, with containers and Yiosa, with 116 vehicles.
