Asif develops eye infection

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: Jailed PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari has developed an eye infection and is being treated by a panel of specialists at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), a hospital source told Dawn.

The source said Mr Zardari on Wednesday complained about pain in his eyes. He was then taken to the out-patient department (OPD) of the hospital at about 11am where Dr Farooq Afzal carried out a thorough check up.

The doctor also prescribed some medicines after which the condition of the patient improved.

The source said Mr Zardari was feeling irritation in the eyes which was affecting his vision.

Mr Zardari, who is in Pims since February 2000, had also developed ‘Otitis Externa’, last year, an ailment of the ears, but was timely treated.

Meanwhile, there were reports that Asif Zardari had again been taken to an undisclosed location on Friday where he met an important personality.
