Three terrorists get death sentence

RAWALPINDI, Nov 1: The judge of the Anti-Terrorist Court No 2, Safdar Hussain Malik, on Friday awarded death sentences to three terrorists and ordered confiscation of their movable and immovable properties.

The convicts — Naseeb, Shafeeq and Ghulam Baho — were also awarded an additional 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The three men had been booked by Rango police, Attock district, under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorist Act (ATA) for trying to smuggle a large number of hand-grenades and sophisticated weapons from Peshawar to Punjab for terrorist activities.

According to the police, 10 rocket launchers, 12 hand- grenades, one SMG Kalashnikov and two 30-bore pistols alongwith thousands of bullets and G-3 gun had been seized from the vehicle of the convicts.

JAIL TERM: Civil Judge Hidayatullah Shah on Friday awarded six years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs1,000 to a robber for trespassing a house and committing robbery.

According to Westridge police, the convict — Khawaja Ghulam Ahmad — had trespassed a house, harassed the family members and committed robbery.

WARRANTS ISSUED: Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Akram Awan on Friday issued warrants of arrest of the sub- inspector (SI) of Cantt police station and a woman for not appearing before court to record their statements despite the fact that both were witnesses in a rape case.

The judge of the Anti-Terrorist Court No 1, Manzoor Ahmad Mirza, extended the physical remand of an accused — Tahir Mehmmod alias Commando — who had opened fire and burnt the vehicle of an army officer.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mian Mohammad Shafi rejected the bail application of two persons accused of taking Rs200,000 from a woman on the pretext that the money would be doubled by their Pir.
