HYDERABAD, Oct 31: Two committees have been set up to remove bottlenecks and initiate construction work of elementary schools under the new development schemes.

This was decided in a meeting, which reviewed the progress of development schemes under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2002-03.

The meeting was presided over by the district coordination officer, Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali.

The committees will consist of one member each from the departments of education, education works, revenue and local government.

They have been assigned to ensure the availability of plots for the construction of elementary schools at Ismail Soomro village, Qasimabad and Bhitshah within three days, failing which the schemes will be shifted to other localities.

He directed the district officers to prepare alternative proposals to avoid delay in th implementation of the development schemes.

He said that 10 primary schools of the district would be upgraded to middle school level during the financial year for which Rs12.26 million has already been sanctioned.

He directed the EDO Education to include at least one school of each taluka for upgradation, adding that priority should be given to less developed talukas, such as Qasimabad and Matiari.

He said that under this scheme, two schools each should be included from these talukas.

The EDO works and services, Habibullah Memon, said that five out of the nine development schemes of roads would be revised because of some technical bottlenecks.

Discussing the development schemes of water supply and sewerage of Hyderabad, the DCO urged the director general, HDA, Shaheer Ahmed Junejo, to undertake five more schemes for which Rs145 million has been made available.

The EDO (revenue), Shakeel Haider, the EDO (finance), Shamsuddin Leghari, the EDO (education), Zamir Kazi, the EDO (Health) and others attended the meeting.
