KARACHI, Oct 31: Six ships carrying containers, steel coils and general cargo are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active where five ships, Al-Mariyah, Iron-D, Thor Master to unload and load containers and general cargo, Bel Grace to load naphtha and Challenger Express to offload high speed diesel were berthed after the departure of seven.

The ships, which departed included APL Cairo, Al-Mariyah, Kota Berani, Thor Master, Banglar Kallol, Sorena and Babur Kaptan, while Chitral, Iron-D, Dapping Hai, Kota Teguh, Challenger Express and Bel Grace are due to sail out on Friday.

Berth occupancy at the wharves was maintained on the higher side thanks to steady arrivals and rose to 67 per cent at the oil piers and 52 per cent at the dry berths respectively.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was brisk where a total tonnage of 69,838 tons comprising 28,861 tons of export cargo including 2,232 tons of rice and 1,563 tons of fertilizer and 40,977 tons of import was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: PONL Everest, Eos-1, Mar Challenger, with containers, Virginia, with 43,792 tons of coal, New Alliance, with 2,000 tons of steel coils and Multan, with general cargo.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Oct 31: Two vessels carrying chemicals and containers were allotted berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and Qasim International Container Terminal respectively during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, two more ships carrying edible oil and containers also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Eight ships were at the berths engaged in loading/discharging wheat, containers and furnace oil, chemicals and coal.

A cargo volume of 75,719 tons comprising 54,340 tons of import and 21,379 tons of export cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 993 containers (Teus) was handled.

Two ships, Msc Delia and Astro Pegasus sailed out, while Wehr Havel and Bador were expected to leave the port on Thursday.

Entalina to discharge edible oil and Francisca Schulte to offload containers were expected to take berths at Marginal Wharf and Qasim International Container Terminal on Thursday. Nur Yenboa and China Star were due to arrive.
