KARACHI, Oct 26: The Diabetic Association of Pakistan (DAP) and World Health Organization’s Collaborating Centre have organized a programme for Sunday to mark the World Diabetes Day.
The theme for the current year is: “Your eyes and diabetes — Don’t lose sight of the risks.”
There would be a symposium on “Update on type-I diabetes Mellitus and type-II” during the scientific session. Dr A. Samad Shera and Dr M. Zaman Sheikh will be the main speakers.
Presentations would be followed by panel discussion with Dr M. A. Ebrahim, Obaid Hashmi, Syed Jamal Raza, Mashoor Alam, Najmul Islam and Khurram Shahid as panelists.
Illahi Baksh Soomro, Patron, Diabetic Association, will be the chief guest during open session for people. Senior diabetologists would be answering public queries.
The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has declared Nov 14 as the World Diabetes Day. As it will fall during the month Ramazan, the DAP has decided to hold the programme before the inception the holy month.—APP
