KARACHI, Oct 26: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has said that after successful conclusion of election 2002, power will be soon transferred to the elected representatives in accordance with the agenda of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

In a communication to the Sindh chief secretary, the governor directed him that in view of the impending establishment of the elected government, the following measures be taken: Renovation and re-furbishing of the Chief Minister’s House, Sindh Assembly Building, offices and residences of ministers should be completed on priority.

Administrative departments be directed to prepare a brief for the newly inducted ministers regarding working of their departments with special reference to the reforms initiatives by the present government. This is necessary for the continuity of the reform process. Similarly, he added, the SGAD should prepare a brief/presentation for the chief minister.

Infrastructure and logistics: Requisition of paraphernalia like vehicles, staff and office equipment should be installed in the offices so that Chief Minister’s House and offices of the ministers become operational immediately after they are installed.

PROVINCIAL HARMONY: The governor said that present government has laid special emphasis on inter-provincial harmony.

“There has never been so much harmonious relations between the provinces as today,” he said while talking to a group of senior officers now under training at NIPA, Lahore, who called on him at the Governor’s House.

To a question, the governor said that stand taken by Sindh on the NFC Award was quite clear and added that the province had laid stress on population, backwardness and good governance in this regard.

He informed them about the ongoing reforms programme in different sectors.—APP
