Options open for govt formation: NA

ISLAMABAD, Oct 24: National Alliance (NA) can join hands with any political party for restoration of democracy and strengthening of national integrity, the alliance deputy secretary-general, Allah Bachaio Leghari, said on Thursday.

“In addition to our coalition with PML-Q, we can cooperate with other political parties as well,” he said in an interview.

“However, this cooperation would be made in line with our party policies and keeping in view our basic principles,” he added.

He referred to various meetings of the NPP President and alliance Leader, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, and said: “Our meetings with other parties are going on and we have kept all options open for government formation.”

Mr Leghari, who is also chief organizer of National People’s Party, sees no breakthrough in the current political scene so far. However, he was hopeful that the politicians would not let go this opportunity for restoration of democracy.

“Leaders of various parties are holding meetings with one another and there would be a positive outcome,” he added.

When asked about future prime minister, Mr Leghari said he must be from the Grand National Alliance, the component parties of PML-Q and the National Alliance.

About the outcome of the recent meetings, he said, the initial round of meetings was to be followed by a final round and political parties would definitely reach a positive conclusion.

He also called upon all parties to make decisions in the interest of the country and nation. — APP
