Two accused surrender

SHIKARPUR, Oct 24: The main accused in the murder of the Kandhkot journalist, Waheed Ali, son of Sardar Sher Mohammad Khan Bijarani, and his gunman, Mohammad Siddique Bajkani, surrendered before the police on Wednesday.

The Kandhkot journalist, Shahid Soomro, was shot dead on Sunday night.

The police had arrested one of the accused, Mohammad Ali Bijarani, soon after the journalist’s killing while four others were absconding.

The police had assured that all absconders would be arrested within 24 hours after extensive protests by the journalists and other social welfare organisations.

The other two absconders are likely to be arrested soon.

Meanwhile, the journalist community, the Soomra Association and other social welfare organisations staged strikes and took out protest rallies in Kandhkot and Jacobabad on Wednesday.

The protestors were demanding early arrest of the remaining two absconders besides producing all the accused in anti- terrorism court.

The journalists of Shikarpur also supported the demands of the Kandhkot and Jacobabad journalists.
