KARACHI: Exhibition of Japanese dolls opens


KARACHI, Oct 24: An exhibition of dolls from Japan was inaugurated in the Manzar Akbar Hall of the Arts Council on Thursday.

The consul-general of Japan in Karachi, Kanji Hanagata performed the inauguration.

The exhibits have been sent by the Japan Foundation and the event is being organized by the Japan Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Arts Council.

The exhibition marks the golden jubilee anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Pakistan.

It is stated that Japanese dolls are very beautiful element of Japanese traditional culture. In Japan, dolls have been a part of everyday life since ancient times. Japanese dolls reflect the customs of Japan and aspirations of the people, possess distinctive regional attributes and over the centuries have developed in diverse forms.

The exhibition will continue till Saturday, open to the public from 10am to 4pm daily.—APP
