KARACHI, Oct 23: Four ships carrying high speed diesel, containers and to load rice are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where seven ships were berthed. They are: APL Pusan, MOL Sincerity, Sima Kija, to unload and load containers, Nine Hawk to load general cargo, Fighter, to offload soyabean, Addarraq, to load molasses and Stolt Alliance to offload chemicals and palm oil.

Five ships, Honor River, Thor Scan, Taiyo-11, Sea Ace and NCC Najd departed on Wednesday, while Nine Hawk, Iran Akhavan, Sima Kija, PONL Malandi, Al-Wajba and Stolt Alliance are due to sail out on Thursday.

Owing to steady arrivals and berthing, the berth occupancy was well above the average daily figure at 67 and 69 per cent both at the oil piers and the dry wharves respectively.

A total tonnage of 59,503 tons comprising 9,038 tons of export cargo and 50,465 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Al-Maqwa, with high speed diesel, PONL Malindi, Al-Wajba, with containers and Khalid Ibn al-Waleed, to load 4,200 tons of rice.
