By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 21: Four ships carrying chemicals and containers and to load general cargo are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was fairly active where seven ships were berthed to clear the off-port position. They are: Bunga Bidara, Kota Intan, Australia Bridge, Iwato, to unload and load containers, Perseus Leader, to unload vehicles, Taiyo-11 to load naphtha and Lombordia to offload crude oil.

Sailing was also active as six ships, Heluan, Bunga Bidara, Kota Intan, Perseus Leader, Idee Fixe and Kassiakos departed, while Taiyo-11, Sacura, Kota Waruna, Iwato, Lombordia and Thor Scan are expected to sail out on Tuesday.

Owing to larger berthing the berth occupancy was maintained on the higher side, 67 per cent and 60 per cent both on the oil piers and the dry wharves respectively.

A total tonnage of 82,540 tons comprising 23,062 tons of export cargo including 2,115 tons of wheat 9,600 tons of molasses and 59,478 tons of import tonnage was handled.
