JI leader terms elections transparent

RAWALPINDI, Oct 20: The Amir of the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Rawalpindi chapter, Mohammad Abbas Butt, has said that except for some cases, the general elections in the district were conducted in a transparent manner.

The JI leader was speaking at a joint press conference with the Naib Amir, Raja Zaheer, and secretary general, Sadiq Hassan, here on Sunday.

Commenting on some irregularities in the electoral process, the JI Amir said that such cases happens during these kind of matters.

Mr Butt said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) would contest in the by-elections and field candidates on both the seats in the district.

We will once again try for adjustment with the PML-N, he added.

He said the JI would recommend the names of its candidates to the top leadership of the MMA for contesting the by-elections.

The JI leader said that success in elections depends on effective electioneering, availability of resources and personality of the candidate.
