10 polio cases detected in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL, Oct 20: Ten cases of polio have been detected in Sahiwal district.

Health department spokesman Dr Muhammad Rafiq told newsmen on Sunday that the stool and blood specimen of the affected children have been sent to the National Institute of Health, Islamabad. Treatment to the affected children would be provided after receipt of final test report.

He said that the anti-polio drops with vitamin A would be administered to 340,063 children up to the age of five years in Sahiwal district during the campaign, starting from Oct 22.—APP
